Welcome to the Paralympic Schools Programme
The Paralympic Schools Programme was offered to primary and intermediate schools as a tool to learn about the London 2012 Paralympic Games. The programmes objectives were to inspire young New Zealanders, through positive perceptions and understandings of individuals with disabilities, and to encourage support of the New Zealand team as they compete at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Registered schools were provided with the following:

• Paralympic Schools Programme classroom activities
• Monthly Paralympic Schools Programme newsletter
• Eligible to enter the Paralympic Schools Supporters Competition
• Links to other Paralympic Education Programmes

The Paralympic Schools Programme booklet and classroom activities have been designed to help students find out interesting facts and information about the upcoming London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Classroom Activities
Below is just a sample of some of the classroom activities available in the Schools Booklet.
 
  Activity One: Colour in the tandem cyclists
  Activity Three: Create your own Paralympic medal
  Activity Ten: How to make a Paralympic champion
  Activity Eleven: Story starters
  Students Certificate of Participation

Learn to Play a Paralympic Sport
Have students experience playing several of the different Paralympic Sports during class or sports time. Teachers can download the different Learn to Play Activity Cards below that explains the rules, equipment and different adaption's required for each sport.
