Wheelchair Rugby
Have A Go Day
Sunday 19th February
Parafed
Auckland and Auckland Wheelchair Rugby Club are holding a "Have A Go"
Day at wheelchair rugby for
any one who is interested or wondered if it is for them. This is your chance to
try it out, have a bit of fun and talk to the guys about rugby opportunities.
Equipment will be supplied on the day. Due to people having different body sizes
and function, we will endeavour to do our best to accommodate everyone.

Hope &
Possibility 5km Fun Run
Sunday 19th February
The 5km Hope and Possibility Event is an opportunity for people with and without
disabilities at all levels of fitness to compete together in a mainstream event.
Participants range from Paralympic hopefuls to recently wounded veterans to
severely disabled individuals taking part in their first athletic endeavour.

physical disability.

Intro to Boccia Workshop
This Intro to Boccia workshop is aimed at those volunteers, coaches, parents and
leaders who are interested in finding out about Boccia and how to play and coach
the sport.
This workshop will help you to :

* Teach Basic skill practices

Competition
Wednesday Nights from 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Parafed
Taranaki is running a 10 week Wheelchair Basketball Summer League Competition on
Wednesday nights between 6:30pm - 7:30pm at the TSB Stadium, New Plymouth.
Parafed Taranaki will provide the sports wheelchairs and any person with a physical disability
is welcome to come along and try this sport.

Sailing - Have A Go Day
Friday 30th March
Yachting New Zealand in collaboration with the Halberg Trust and the Waitara
Boating Club will be hosting a Sailing Have a Go Day.
For children with disabilities aged between 8-13yrs (flexible) on Friday 30th
March at The Waitara Boating Club.
Schools are encouraged to bring along students, and their able bodied peers. A
small charge for the day will apply and applications can be made to the Halberg
Trust to help cover this.

Bowls - Have A Go Day

Wellington and The Park Bowling Club Kilbirnie wish to invite people with a
physical and/or visual impairment to participate in a Bowls Have A Go Day on
Sunday 29th January between 2:00pm - 4:00pm at the Park Bowling Club, Kilbirnie Crescent, Wellington.
Bowls is a sport that can be played anywhere, by anybody, at anytime. We want to
offer disabled people the opportunity to try out this sport with the view to
participating in a regular weekly programme.

Have A Go Day With Westwood
Tuesday 14th February
Jill
Westenra, from Westwood, is starting a new venture for disabled young adults
providing sport and recreation at a minimal cost. Her aim to is get more young
adults involved in sport and recreation and hopefully join them into a
group/club to challenge themselves, learn more and meet others with similar
interests.
Activities include soccer, volleyball, badminton, ball skills and kayaking in
the sea.

Football Open Day - Youth

To follow
on from a very successful pilot program of Adaptive Football last year,
SportZone Football is offering this opportunity again for six weeks starting
19th February.
The “Able 2 Football” opportunity is open to any young person with a physical,
sensory or intellectual impairment aged between 15 and 25 years of age of all
abilities.

AMI Wellington Round The Bays
Sunday 26th February
This iconic event,
organised by Sport Wellington, takes place on Sunday 26th February in Wellington and offers a 7km run/walk or a half marathon. The 2011 event
attracted 11,000 participants and it is hoped that the 2012 event will attract
in excess of 12,000 participants.

Parafed Otago Fr Leo Close Memorial Games
Saturday 25th February
The Parafed Otago Fr Leo Close Memorial Games will be held on Saturday 25th
February 2012 and will include the sports of athletics, boccia, table tennis and
swimming.
Athletics being held in conjunction with the Otago Athletic Championships and
the swimming events being combined with the Swim Otago competition (Saturday
11th February).
Entries are open for athletes with a physical disability.
