Inspiration first struck when kiwi artist Amber Gabrielle Stephens met Paralympian Sophie Pascoe. She was immediately taken by Sophie's unapologetic drive to meet her sporting potential. Amber visited Paralympics New Zealand and the Spirit of Gold® Collection was born. The collection will visit 20+ towns across New Zealand in the lead up to Rio 2016, in partnership with the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce and our Partners, before being auctioned on the 23 June 2016.
The Spirit of Gold® Collection has toured the country with the support of our partners in the build-up to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. The Collection has provided a unique way to raise awareness in the community and further increase the understanding of Para-Athletes and Para-Sport. The Collection has stimulated conversation and interest throughout New Zealand with over 80,000 people having seen the portraits first hand in 65 different locations.
